Energy Compliance Documentation & COMcheck (IECC C103/C408)

Meeting the energy numbers isn't enough — the IECC also requires you to document how you meet them. Section C103 requires the construction documents to show the compliance path and the energy details; on most commercial projects that means a COMcheck report covering envelope, mechanical, and lighting. Section C408 adds commissioning requirements for larger mechanical and lighting systems.

The common mistake is a set that actually meets the values but doesn't include the COMcheck report or the required energy details — which lands as a completeness rejection rather than a code failure.

Reviewers look for the compliance path stated, the COMcheck (or equivalent) attached, and commissioning called out where C408 applies. The performance can be right and still get returned if the paperwork isn't there.
